UK WEB DESIGN & UX

Websites designed around how your customers actually decide.

I research how your customers think, design and test the journeys that matter, then build your website. Scope and investment are agreed before any work begins.

The Webdesign Girl

I’m here to help.

Does your website still feel like your business? Whether you’re ready for something new or want to improve what you already have, tell me what’s on your mind.

You don’t need to know the technical terms. Share your ideas and goals, and we’ll work out the next step together.

A website that feels like your business.

Your website should reflect who you are, what you offer and why customers should choose you. I tailor the design, layout and features around your brand and the people you want to reach.

Whether you need a WordPress website, an online store or a custom build, I’ll help you choose a practical solution that suits your goals and budget—with room to grow.

Clear communication.
From start to finish.

You’ll work directly with me throughout your website design project. I’ll listen to your ideas, explain the options clearly and keep you updated as your site takes shape.

With agreed milestones and time for feedback, you’ll know what’s happening and what comes next. After launch, hosting, website maintenance and ongoing support are available to help keep your site running smoothly.

From first conversation to launch.

Website design, hosting and support, with a clear plan at every stage.

Discussion

We’ll start with an informal chat about your business, your goals and what you need from your website. Together, we’ll outline the scope, style and budget.

Planning

We’ll map out your pages, navigation and key features, and choose the right platform and hosting. I’ll help you identify the copy, images and other content needed to get started.

Initial design

While you prepare your content, I’ll create the initial design. You’ll review the layout, colours and overall feel, so we can refine the direction before building the remaining pages.

Build & approval

I’ll build your pages and bring the content and features together. We’ll review the site at agreed stages, making adjustments within the project scope before your final approval.

Testing

Before launch, I’ll check the site across common browsers and screen sizes, test links and forms, and review the content. I’ll also check the agreed security, backup and hosting setup.

Launch & support

Once approved, your website goes live. I’ll guide you through managing it, with ongoing hosting, maintenance, security updates and technical support available through your chosen plan.

A reliable home for your website.

Hosting is the service that stores your website’s files, images and database on a server and makes them available online. Your domain name is the address people type; hosting is where the website itself lives.

I bring website design and hosting together, helping you choose a setup that suits your business, your platform and the way your customers use your site.

Start with what you need.
Leave room to grow.

A small business website has different hosting needs from a busy online shop. As your traffic, product range or website features grow, you may need more storage, processing power or capacity for visitors using the site at the same time.

I’ll help you review performance and plan upgrades when they’re useful. SSL, software updates, backups and controlled access all contribute to a safer website, with maintenance and personal support available through your agreed plan.

Security and data protection, considered from the start.

Good hosting supports a responsible website setup. SSL encrypts information travelling between your website and its visitors, while backups and updates help protect against data loss and known software vulnerabilities. Data protection also depends on how you collect, use and store personal information. Hosting is one part of that picture, alongside your forms, privacy information, third-party tools and access permissions.

Hosting, explained.

What is the difference between hosting and a domain name?

Your domain is your website’s address, such as thewebdesigngirl.com. Hosting provides the server space and resources that make your website accessible. They work together, but they are separate services and can have separate renewal charges.

How much hosting does my website need?

It depends on your platform, visitor numbers, file sizes and features. A straightforward information website usually needs fewer resources than a WooCommerce store with orders, customer accounts and a large catalogue. I’ll help you choose a suitable starting point rather than paying for capacity you don’t yet need.

Can my hosting grow with my business?

Yes. Hosting can usually be upgraded or moved as your requirements change. We can review loading times, resource use and expected demand before choosing the next step. Sometimes optimising images, caching or simplifying plugins improves performance before a larger hosting plan is necessary.

Does hosting make my website secure and compliant?

Hosting provides part of the security foundation, but no hosting plan makes a website automatically secure or compliant. SSL, updates, backups, strong passwords and appropriate access controls work together. UK GDPR compliance also involves your handling of personal data, provider agreements and the services connected to your website.

Are backups, maintenance and support included?

The arrangements depend on your chosen plan. Before we begin, we’ll agree what is included: backup frequency and retention, restoration support, software updates and technical assistance. Hosting keeps your website online; ongoing maintenance covers the work needed to keep its software and features in good order.
