ECOMMERCE WEBSITE DESIGN UK

More than a beautiful store.
A better way to shop.

In the UK’s competitive online marketplace, your website needs to do more than display products. It should help customers find what they want, feel confident in their choices and move comfortably from browsing to checkout. Thoughtful ecommerce website design brings those steps together, giving your business a stronger foundation for growth.

UK shoppers are familiar with buying online and expect a quick, straightforward experience across their devices. Clear navigation, responsive layouts and a secure checkout all play a part. Your branding matters too: the way your store looks, reads and works should give people a reason to choose you in a crowded market.

At The Webdesign Girl, I bring together web design, practical shopping journeys and SEO foundations to create online stores shaped around your products and customers. From mobile usability to clear delivery, returns and privacy information, every part should support a more useful, trustworthy shopping experience.

BEFORE WE BUILD YOUR STORE

Your ecommerce questions,
answered.

From choosing your platform to understanding the price, here’s what to expect when we create your online shop.

How much does an ecommerce website cost?

My E-Commerce Website package is £3,500 for the agreed online shop build. Before work begins, we confirm your pages, features, platform, initial product upload and integrations in writing.

The package includes design shaped around your brand, responsive shopping layouts, payment and delivery setup, and practical guidance on managing products and orders.

Additional features or work outside the agreed package are quoted separately. For a complex enterprise store, bespoke functionality or a larger project, please contact me for a tailored quote.

What website packages do you offer?

The One Day Website is £500 for a focused website build with your content prepared in advance. The Professional Website is £1,500 for a business website, and the E-Commerce Website is £3,500 for an online shop.

Website Help is £200 for five hours of work. SEO Support is £400 for ten hours. Hosting & Maintenance is £40 per month.

Each package serves a different purpose. If selling products through a basket and checkout is central to your business, the E-Commerce Website package is the relevant option.

What is included in the £3,500 online shop package?

We plan your store around your products, customers and brand. The build includes the agreed pages, product and collection or category layouts, responsive browsing, and a clear journey from discovering a product to checkout.

Payment and delivery settings are configured within the agreed scope. The initial product upload is confirmed during planning, and you receive guidance on adding products and managing orders yourself.

Paid apps, extensions, platform subscriptions and payment processing fees are separate from the build price.

Which ecommerce platform should I choose?

I work with WooCommerce, Shopify and OpenCart. The right choice depends on your catalogue, required features, budget and how you want to manage the store.

WooCommerce works within WordPress and offers flexibility for combining products with service pages and editorial content. Shopify provides a hosted store with its own subscription. OpenCart is another option for a dedicated ecommerce website.

We discuss the practical benefits and ongoing costs before choosing your platform.

Is hosting included, and what will it cost afterwards?

WooCommerce and OpenCart builds include one month of free hosting. After that, my Hosting & Maintenance package is £40 per month.

For supported websites, ongoing care includes hosting, SSL, backups, updates and monitoring, with personal technical support. WordPress and plugin updates are included where applicable.

Shopify stores use Shopify’s own subscription and hosting, so the free hosting offer does not apply. Shopify subscriptions remain separate from my services.

Content changes, new pages, additional features and redesigns are quoted separately from ongoing care.

Are there other ongoing costs?

Depending on your setup, ongoing costs can include domain renewal, hosting or your platform subscription, premium apps, extensions and payment processing fees.

We identify the tools your store needs during planning and discuss their costs before adding them. The website build price does not include third-party subscriptions or transaction fees.

How many products can my shop have?

The package offers unlimited product capacity, meaning the build is not priced around a fixed maximum catalogue size. Your store can expand as your business grows.

This does not mean I upload an unlimited number of products. We agree the initial upload as part of the project scope. Large catalogues, imports and complex product variations need to be discussed before the build.

Hosting resources, platform limits and performance needs still depend on the setup chosen for your store.

What do I need to provide before the project starts?

You will usually need your logo and brand materials, product photographs, descriptions, prices, variations and essential business information.

We also agree what is needed for delivery, returns, payment setup and customer information. Content responsibilities are confirmed during planning.

If you need help organising your catalogue or preparing website content, we can scope that work separately.

Will my online shop work on mobile?

Yes. Responsive layouts are part of the build, so your store adapts to mobile, tablet and desktop screens.

The aim is a comfortable shopping experience: readable product information, clear navigation, usable product options and an accessible route to the basket and checkout.

Can I update products and manage orders myself?

Yes. You receive practical handover guidance on the everyday tasks you will manage, such as adding products, editing descriptions and prices, and managing orders.

We choose the platform with your working routine in mind. If you need help after launch, the Website Help package provides five hours of support for £200.

Does ecommerce website design include SEO?

Your store is built with a search-friendly foundation, including sensible headings, page structure and clear navigation. Product content and useful category pages also help shoppers understand what you sell.

For more focused optimisation, my SEO Support package is £400 for ten hours. Depending on your priorities, this can cover keyword research, page titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal links and basic technical checks.

You receive a summary of completed work and recommended next steps. Search rankings and sales depend on many factors and are not guaranteed by a website build.

Can you improve an online shop I already have?

Yes. Send me your website link and explain what needs attention. This might include product pages, mobile layouts, navigation, content updates or problems in the shopping journey.

Website Help is £200 for five hours. I review your setup and agree the priorities for that time. A larger redesign, platform migration or new functionality is scoped and quoted separately.

Can you set up payments and delivery options?

Payment and delivery setup are included within the agreed project scope. We discuss your delivery areas, shipping rules and preferred payment options during planning.

You provide the necessary business accounts and information. Payment provider approval, processing fees and any paid integrations remain separate from the website build.

More complex requirements, such as specialist delivery calculations or connections to external systems, need to be agreed before work starts.

Can my store include discounts, gift cards or subscriptions?

These features can be discussed as part of your store plan. Availability and setup depend on the platform and the tools required.

Tell me which features matter to your business before we agree the scope. Some may require paid apps, extensions or additional development.

How long will my ecommerce website take?

We agree the schedule once your catalogue, pages, integrations and content responsibilities are clear.

Timing depends on the complexity of the store and how quickly product information, images and feedback are ready. I confirm the project plan before work begins.

How do we agree the design and handle revisions?

We begin with your brand, audience and design direction. For the E-Commerce Website package, three rounds of revisions are included to agree and refine the look and feel of the website.

A revision round brings your feedback together into one set of agreed design changes. New pages, functionality or changes to the original scope are quoted separately.

How do I start my ecommerce website project?

Tell me what you sell, whether you already have a store, and what you want the new website to achieve. Include an idea of your catalogue size and any essential features.

I’ll recommend the next step and confirm the scope, price and project arrangements before we begin.
