Website maintenance services
Hosting, security checks and website updates, with someone to contact when you need help.
A website needs attention after launch. I provide website maintenance services to help keep your site up to date, look after its hosting and handle the routine technical work that is easy to overlook when you are running a business.
Hosting and website maintenance — £40/month.
Let’s look after your website.
Tell me your website address, where it is hosted and what you need help with.
Your website needs care
after it goes live.
Website maintenance is the ongoing work that helps keep your website functioning, updated and recoverable.
Website platforms, themes and plugins change over time. Updates can fix faults, address known security issues and improve compatibility. Hosting, SSL certificates and backups also need attention.
Maintenance means checking those foundations, applying relevant updates and looking for problems that could affect your visitors. It also means having a practical recovery route if something goes wrong.
I take care of the agreed routine work and explain issues in everyday language, so you do not need to manage every technical detail yourself.
What the monthly service includes.
Hosting and routine maintenance for an agreed standard website, with the setup and responsibilities confirmed before the service begins.
Website hosting
Hosting on my managed setup, with the website’s requirements checked before it is added. I help with the agreed hosting configuration and ongoing care.
SSL certificate
SSL setup and renewal management for HTTPS. HTTPS encrypts information travelling between visitors’ browsers and your website.
Platform updates
Relevant updates to your supported website platform, themes and plugins, with compatibility considered before changes are applied.
Security checks
Routine checks for available security updates, signs of suspicious activity and configuration issues within the agreed maintenance scope.
Website backups
Scheduled backups of the website files and database where applicable. The backup schedule, retention and recovery arrangements are confirmed at setup.
Checks after updates
Checks of key pages and agreed website functions after maintenance, to help identify layout or functionality problems introduced by updates.
Availability monitoring
Monitoring to help identify when your website becomes unavailable, followed by investigation within the supported hosting setup.
Technical support
A direct point of contact for maintenance and hosting questions. I assess reported issues and explain the next step if additional work is needed.
Domain connection
Help connecting your existing domain to the agreed hosting setup. Your domain registration remains separate from the website maintenance service.
Hosting and website maintenance: £40/month. Larger websites, online shops and specialist applications may need a different scope, agreed before work begins.
Look after the basics.
Reduce avoidable risks.
Keeping supported software updated, maintaining sensible access controls and monitoring for problems are important parts of website care.
An SSL certificate enables HTTPS, which protects data in transit. It does not prevent every security issue, so it works alongside updates, backups and appropriate website configuration.
No maintenance service can guarantee that a website will never experience an attack or outage. My role is to maintain the agreed protections, identify issues and help you respond when something needs attention.
Updates with
compatibility in mind.
Updating a website involves more than pressing an “update all” button.
On a WordPress website, the core platform, theme and plugins work together. A change to one component can affect another, particularly on older or heavily customised websites.
I consider relevant updates, maintain the agreed backups and check key website functions afterwards. Where an update needs more extensive testing or development work, I explain that before proceeding.
Paid themes and plugins may require active licences to receive updates. I identify any licence requirements during the initial review so you know what needs to remain active.
A practical recovery plan
for your website.
Backups provide a previous copy of your website that may be used if an update fails, content is accidentally removed or the site develops a problem.
I confirm the backup frequency and retention period for your website. Recovery depends on the available backup and the nature of the issue, so those arrangements should be understood before they are needed.
Websites that change frequently, particularly online shops taking orders, may need more frequent backups and a more detailed recovery setup. I assess those requirements separately.
Routine maintenance and additional work.
Ongoing technical care
The monthly service covers the agreed hosting, SSL management, routine updates, backups, monitoring and maintenance support.
I confirm the supported platform, website requirements and service arrangements before the maintenance begins.
Changes to your website
New pages, redesigns, new features, substantial content changes and specialist integrations are separate from routine maintenance.
Domain renewals, email services and paid third-party licences are also separate unless explicitly included in your agreement.
How website maintenance works.
Share your website
Send your website address and tell me about its platform, current hosting and any known problems.
Initial review
I assess whether the website is suitable for the service and identify any setup, licence or repair work needed first.
Agree the setup
I confirm the maintenance scope, hosting arrangements, backup schedule and support details with you.
Ongoing care
I carry out the agreed maintenance and provide a point of contact for hosting and technical questions.
You do not need
to start again.
I can review an existing website, including one built by another designer. Before taking it on, I check its platform, access requirements and whether the software is supported.
If you want to move to my hosting setup, I can assess the migration and explain any preparation needed. Existing faults or extensive repair work are identified separately.
If you prefer to keep your current hosting, tell me where the website is hosted. I can discuss a maintenance arrangement appropriate to that environment.
Discuss your existing website →Website maintenance FAQs.
What does website maintenance cost?
Hosting and website maintenance is £40/month for an agreed standard website. I review your website first and confirm whether it fits that service.
Does the service include hosting and SSL?
Yes. The £40/month service includes hosting on my managed setup and SSL management, alongside the agreed routine maintenance.
Can you maintain a website you did not build?
Yes, subject to an initial review. I check the platform, website condition, access and licence requirements before confirming the arrangement.
Are text changes and new pages included?
Routine technical maintenance is different from content editing and development. Changes to text, new pages and additional features are agreed separately unless your service agreement includes them.
Will maintenance make my website completely secure?
No service can guarantee complete security. Updates, sensible configuration, checks and backups help reduce risks and provide a recovery route when problems occur.
Can I keep my existing hosting?
I can review your existing hosting and discuss an appropriate maintenance arrangement. The standard £40/month package includes hosting on my managed setup.
Does maintenance include SEO?
Maintenance supports the technical upkeep of your website. Keyword research, new SEO content and ongoing search optimisation are separate services.
